The Levels
For decades expert riders have proclaimed riding to be 90% mental. Keith Code is credited with breaking the sport down into its essential components and bringing real understanding to riders in all categories. His step by step approach will make sense to you. Each skill builds upon the last and creates a complete package of control and confidence.
The school’s levels are done in order, one through four. Each level can be completed in one day. Each of the first three levels presents five precise technical riding skills, bringing together an entire area of riding. Level Four becomes your tailored program.
The sequential nature of the presented information requires all students to begin at Level One regardless of experience or ability.
The California Superbike School’s curriculum works. You will improve. You are a far better rider than you’ve ever let yourself hope to be. Please do not come to us for an expensive track day. We are dedicated to your improvement; we are professionals; we will ensure you learn the skills.
Level One addresses the six most common errors riders, from novice to world-class racers, make and why. You will realise exactly how they have stopped or slowed your own improvement as a rider. There will be a technical briefing for each one including on and off-track drills that put you in control of them. Your assigned coach for the day will observe and correct any difficulties you are having with each drill. You will be coached as an individual, according to your skill level. You will improve.
Students often comment that Level One answers questions they didn’t even know they had. Confidence and control are shattered when riders experience vague fears about turn entry speed, finding good lines, bike stability and their own rider-induced errors. These fears and uncertainties are addressed and replaced with confident and precise bike control. Within the boundaries of good sense and safety, the speed you ride is up to you.

It is no secret that Keith was the first to tackle the problems of vision and riding and he’s developed the drills to handle them. Once an understanding is achieved of what a motorcycle can and should do for you from the Level One drills, we move on step by step, to sharpen the visual skills. Level Two is all about solutions to problems we face with our eyes.
The school’s visual drills put you in control of the road. We define our visual enemies and how to overcome them. Everyone knows that target fixation is dangerous. How bad is it? With logical, step by step procedures, your eyes become precision instruments. The results of Level Two are amazing. Riders lose their claustrophobia in corners and gain the freedom to really use the roads they ride.
As with Level One, there are five technical briefings and five track sessions during the day.

Level Three addresses five more proactive technical points on riding. We thoroughly cover how you interface with the bike, your body position choices and how these can affect the cornering process. Once rider position and stability are completely understood it paves the way for line selection options you may never have imagined. All five of the exercises done in Level Three are indispensable tools which will put you in control of any set of twisties that exists. The final exercise called ‘Attack Angles’ will give you a whole new approach to cornering because you'll have a plan.

Level Four takes a completely different turn. We ask you what needs to be improved.
Now that a rider has spent at least three levels with us and discussed and practiced over 15 different riding skills, we design a program uniquely for that rider. At Level Four we take a focused look at your skills and tie up the loose ends to your satisfaction.
Level Four is custom designed for each rider. Aside from their assigned on-track coach, we also provide a highly trained consultant. Throughout the day your consultant will coordinate with your on-track coach and give you one on one attention.
Depending on track circumstances and bike availability, Level Four students can be given an extra ride to work out their individual program steps.
